16v model year differences

Okay, so I know there are some differences between the 86.5, 87 and 88
16v's.

- the logo at the bottom corner of each piece of window glass is different
  on 88's
- 88's have a different type of plastic cover that runs along the bottom
  of the door jambs
- there are subtle differences in wiring between the years
- a large proportion of cars from some model year (86??) had 160 mph
  motometer speedos
- the instrument cluster on 86 and 87 cars has the upshift light and oxs
  counter box, 88 does not
- perhaps an urban legend but some early 86 USA cars got the 50mm intake
- the mad bastard mentioned about a year and a half ago that he had seen
  an 89 canadian 16v that had the intake on the wrong side and it was
  supposedly factory

I can't remember the other stuff right now (maybe someone else will?) but
out of curiousity I wonder if the engines the same or there are subtle
differences there as well?

What about seats - were the grey pinstripe and black leather the only ones
available? Did 16vs in canada ever get heated seats or were they available
on 8vs only?

And while we're on the subject, does anybody have a list of what the later
model european 16vs had that we didn't get? electrically adjustable
headlights, abs, side marker lights, etc..

The basic differences are worth mentioning as well - no stupid
safety slogan on passenger side mirror glass, no 'on' or 'off' graphics on
interior air vents, speedo in km's, obviously headlights, turn signals,
bumpers and tail lights different (they all include shiny reflectors for
rear fogs on at least one side, no rear side markers), tail light vs.
brake light positioning different, seat belt and brake warning lights
graphics different, parking light/turn signal wiring different (the
'active reflector' thing where you can leave your turn signal turned with
the ign off and the parking lights on one side of the car stay dimly lit),
much greater incidence of non-ac than here, some models got 16v side
badges in lieu of karmann ones, a whole bunch of special packages with
color or theme matched interiors such as white cat, scala, gtx, tropic,
gt-ii, etc.

Okay, so I guess I'm sort of answering my own question(s) here.. but I'm
looking for people to jump in and help me remember other stuff - heh!
