getting worse

I'm gonna' get stranded soon if I can't figure this out....

The 16V 'roc is dying almost every morning, about two minutes after
start-up. It dies for about half a second to about two seconds, once,
twice, maybe three times in the space of about five seconds. Then it
continues merrily on its stupid way as if nothing was wrong. The tach and
voltmeter drop instantly when this happens, even though the engine is still
turning some revs (I keep the clutch engaged), the lights and radio function
perfectly throught these little fits. It seems to be temperature-related...

Other than that, the car has never run better; starts instantly, smooth,
fast, and otherwise reliable.
Anyone have any experiences like this? Any thoughts? Suggestions? I got a
new Hall sender today, but am not completely sure that is the problem...I'll
put it in this weekend regardless....won't hurt.
