Scirocco in distress!!! read me first.

Oops, I said it was the oil pressure light, but it was my coolant temperature light flashing... why would this flash right after I start it?  And why, when I checked the oil after I thought it was the oil pressure light (sorry - absent minded) - why was the oil so far up the stick.  Checked it twice, wiping before both times to make sure.
