Looked at 2 Rocs this weekend

First one was an '87 16v, with (supposed) Eibachs and Neuspeed sway
bars. The guy is selling it for a friend who is selling it for a
friend. It used to be Mars red, but it has been resprayed (poorly) a
dark maroon.

The good stuff:
Supposed suspension goodies (I looked at the springs through the
teardrops, and they were definatly lowering springs as opposed to cut
springs)
16v with 115,000, pretty clean under the hood. Started okay (dead
battery), ran good, pretty quick (I've never driven a 16v before)
AGB tranny

Questionable stuff:
Bigtime dent behind the drivers side door and behind the pass. side rear
wheel (no frame damage, I think)
The fuel pump has been wired to a switch on the dash, reason unknown
Power windows were working intermittently
Interior was kind of rough, torn seats, 3 gauge panel with no gauges
where the radio should be

Asking $1500, could go as low as $1350. I don't think I"m interested.

Second was a suprise. We were in a junkyard looking for Mercedes parts
and came across a Mars Red '85 8v Wolfie, with 3 Corrado G60 wheels and
a mini-spare. Body is straight, no rust. Drivers seat is kind of
messed up, but overall a good interior. Near PERFECT black dash. Kinda
oily in the engine bay, I'm suspecting valve cover gasket. Battery was
in it, the car looked like a fresh intake to the yard. I asked at the
office and got the story:
About a week ago the car had a flat tire on the interstate. The owners
couldn't get the wheel off (stuck wheel nut or something), and I guess
the State Patrol towed it to the yard. The onwer couldn't afford the
$100 to get it back, so he left it there. I asked how much he would
want for something like that, he said, "Oh, $300". It was closing time,
but I'm thinking about heading back up next weekend to look at it more
and getting it started and asking about the 3rd Corrado wheel.......

I haven't told the Misses yet =o)
