Ign. switch/wire hassles

Yes, the wire can be removed from the black plug, first disconnect battery,
unplug it from the switch and you will see the connectors located inside the
plug, notice how the openings are "T" shaped ? what you need to do is
collapse the tab that sticks out (internally) from the terminal and wedges
into the plug at the top of the "T" in the plug, you can accomplish this
different ways but a simple method is by using a mini screwdriver such as
the type for sunglasses, insert it in the small opening at the top of the
"T" to approx. 1/8" depth is where the tab is located, apply light force on
tab (going by feel here as you can't see it) in order to bend it down
somewhat flat against the terminal so it releases it from the plug, my guess
is this has already happened and that is why you have a poor connection or
the plug may be melted and be damaged from heat and distortion and is not
allowing good contact, if terminal is not burnt or damaged and plug is not
damaged you can gently bend tab back out and reinsert terminal into plug,
then lightly tug on wire from backside to ensure it is latched and reinstall
plug to switch, reconnect battery and test. if the plug is melted get
yourself a good used one and transfer the wires over to it, if one or more
wires are damaged repair or replace them, I have a similar plug that I can
take apart and take pictures to assist you if needed, hth.....Curt
