does this sound right?

Before we go any further I think you have to substantiate your claim about
747's.
You didn't read that in Popular Mechanics, did you???
Christ! 25 years ago my dad wrote a program for McDonnell-Douglas that could
calculate any performance parameter; time to altitude, fuel to altitude,
time to velocity, etc. etc. for an F4 Phantom within 10%! Tremendous strides
have been made since then in the ability to accurately calculate mechanical
or aerodynamic performance. Engineering calculations can be inaccurate, but
seldom by an order or magnitude, unless the calculation didn't take all the
variables into account.
So, let me reiterate. I get the impression you're thinking the 35 hp (or
something close to it) is possible.
I'm stating it's not. This modification, by itself, if good for 10% or less!
(probably closer to 5%)
Dan
Continually amazed that people think engineering is black magic!
BTW anybody read Samrabbit's claims on Vortex how he "loves to rewrite
history"? Actually, he thinks he's defying physics, but, of course, he's
not! Even more pathetic is he doesn't know the difference between history
and physics!
