burning a lot of gas in my 8v

well 2 question come to mind, before stating there is a problem

1. 8v or 16v what year model
2. how many miles per tank fill (how many gallons)

I get on my 8v (prolwer) about 275-300 Miles per 10 gallons.

if you get less than 250 miles per 10 gallons, I might suggest (and this did
increase my mileage per tank) is check your vaccum lines, plugs (platinum
will get lower mpg on hwy as per MY experience 28 MPG Hwy / 25 MPG city,
where super copper ones (OEM Bosh gets me 32 MPG HWY and 24 MPG City) I
usually change my plugs every 12K (yeah I am anal ...) but their life can be
shorterned if your AIR/Fuel Mix/CO2 is not set right (too rich for example),
and engine compression could also indicate if your pistons are in order,
lack of compression = less fuel burned properly = loss in MPG.
quite a few factors come into play on the MPG game, I would check Vacuum
lines, fuel Mix, Timing, Piston Compression, Plugs, Distributor cap, Air
Filter and rotor, and if you smell unburnt fuel at idle I woud even go as
far as suggesting checking your COIL (tired coils = less spark power = less
fuel economy).

=>I dunno the exact mpg, but it seems that I am going to the pump
=>way more often lately. I thought that pulling the AC would help
=>me get better fuel economy, but the opposite seems to have
=>happened. The O2 sensor on the DP was changed in the Spring and I
=>put Bosch platinums in back in June too. So I am wondering why
=>she is sucking up so much gas. At $1.75 to $1.85 for premium, its
=>more than $20 for a full tank and it should be lasting me more.
=>How long is an O2 good for? I don't drive much, really only on
=>the weekends and then just around town. I do get caught in a lot
=>of bumper to bumper traffic. What about those plugs? Dirty or
=>tired plugs can lower fuel economy, but I thought that these
=>bosches last longer. I think they are the 4s, but I can double
=>check. They were like $4 each. I know most of you don't like the
=>bosche plugs and I dunno if I am gonna try them again.
=>
=>Any ideas or advice, pls?
=>
=>thanks!!!
