Dirty intake boot!



The short answer is yes.

The long answer is not likely since the only place this could be coming from
is the mixture adjustment screw and that is not a very large opening. The
danger of running without an air filter is to the valves. Dust gets in there
and gets ground into the seats and valve seating areas. I'd guess that what
you had to clean out of the air box was greasy. If that is the case then
your likelihood of having caused damage is reduced as the damage would come
from free floating dust. That oil moisture all over the inside of the air
tract would act as your friend in this case and collect a lot of the dust.

Just seal it up good and run it.

Plus, I shined a light down there and you can barely make out the allen head
screw with all the dirt that's on it.
