Hard Shifting

\

Sal,

You say the clutch is new. I take this to mean the pressure plate &
friction disk are new. Did you also replace the push plate at the same
time? How about the push rod?

OK, but obviously what is happening is the friction disk isn't getting
backed off the PP and flywheel enough. I mean the PP isn't getting
backed off the friction disk.

During the motor running times the spinning crank is transmitting power
(torque) to the transaxle. When off there is still contact but the parts
aren't spinning so it goes through the gears just fine.

Fill in a little minute detail if you will; what trans and block and
where did they come from for this swap?

Here's another question: Did you put all the bolts back in that hold the
trans to the block, esp the starter ones and lower ones? Might be the
whole thing is binding by flexing during shifts.

Last comment for now is the idea that differing brands don't always fit
well together, as in the friction disk vs the PP and so on. Better they
are all Sachs, etc., etc.
