What I have done to find a bad wheel bearing is to jack up each wheel by itself so that it is free to rotate. Then rotate by hand, and you can feel it in the wheel if the bearing is bad it will be all rough and grindy as you spin the wheel. Brian 86 16v 98 Jetta Vr6
