Forced to get an inexpensive paint job

Ken,

Do as much as prepwork as you can before taking it to the shop. If your
bodywork holds up, then you only need worry about runs, dirt, orange
peel, etc... When I had mine done, I brought it to the shop already
primered and masked off. All that was needed was to degrease and tack
it. I would specifically ask beforehand "in the event of..." so you can
get some of it out of the way first. Ask to see some of their work,
work on custom cars that is. Many places dont give a rats arse about
quality of insurance work, so be sure to see some work that was done
outside of the that. Total cost of paint, booth, painter, and a
not-so-good cut & buff cost me $1300.

Good Luck!
