Noisy clutch

my quick guess is a broken pressure plate spring band thingy. if your clutch
only has 3, one breaking can do all of this. since the pressure plate is
disengaged from the center, the plate ends up pivoting due to the broken band.
it then keeps contact with the clutch on the opposite side of the break,
resulting on your hard shifting.
