Anyone convert 4 door front seats to 2 door?

I've done this - it's not hard. The seat frames and hardware are the same
- the only thing that's missing is the cable that actuates the latch
mechanisms and the lever that you lift.

You can scavenge the lever and trim piece from a pair of two-door seats,
but I would get new cables specific to the model year of the seat from the
dealer, as they do wear out and break over time.

You hvave to pull up the seat back upholstery - there are procedures for
replacing broken seat cables on the net I believe - this would be the same
thing except you're installing a cable that was never there. If you have
an old two-door seat to reference for cable routing that's the easiest.

The scariest bit is cutting a hole in the upholstery for the lever - if
you run your finger down the side of the seat back's frame you can feel
the rectangular cut-out in the steel frame for the lever mechanism -
simply cut out the rectangle with a sharp knife following the hole in the
frame.

If you need more info or assistance let me know and I'll see if I can dig
up some links on replacing seat cables that may help. I also have a
disassembled seat or two in the basement that I could snap some photos of
and post for you.

Good luck,

Drew
