Head Gasket



iirc, that's a common area for a headgasket leak, but it usually isn't that 
bad, and the oil only communicates with the outside. check your oil for 
milkyness, and your coolant for oilyness, and check your compression. if it 
all checks out, and depending on exactly how much oil you're losing (it 
sounds like a good bit), you're probably good for a while. also, in the 
cases i've seen the oil doesn't usually look fresh, but more baked on.
