Stretch bolts?

The rod bolts I want to reuse have actually never been heated, as they are brand new but I had to untorque the ones on the #1 rod due to the fact that I thought the bearing went in wrong, so I think I'll try and reuse those two-

im really not sure you would want to use rod bolts. with >100k on an engine those bolts have been heat cycled several hundred times. the more you heat cycle a part, the more it hardens. the more it hardens, the more brittle it gets. (the same argument goes for head bolts).are the bolts still o.k. to use after >100k miles? probably. would i chance re-using rod bolts if i had the engine torn down to that level anyhow? nope.Al Allyn Malventano, ETC(SS), USN

I too reused my headbolts when i redid the head on my 16v. That was 6 years ago. No problems at all.
