  My metalurgical background will allow me to give you an unequivical =
"yes" on reusing rod bolts. The 300deg F temps our bolts may see do =
not, repeat do not, affect the crystaline structure of iron-based alloys =
(i.e. steel). Only when you approach 1000deg F does steel alter its =
structure. =20
Have no fear, all our bolts have a lifetime that is far longer than =
yours and mine.......

That said, I fully agree with you on using new bolts during a build-up =
if you have the $ for new (and you'd better, otherwise you have no =
business rebuilding an engine....) You never know what the last guy did =
when he tightened them.....

  im really not sure you would want to use rod bolts. with >100k on an =
engine those bolts have been heat cycled several hundred times. the more =
you heat cycle a part, the more it hardens. the more it hardens, the =
more brittle it gets. (the same argument goes for head bolts).
  are the bolts still o.k. to use after >100k miles? probably. would i =
chance re-using rod bolts if i had the engine torn down to that level =
anyhow? nope.

      I too reused my headbolts when i redid the head on my 16v. That =
was 6 years ago. No problems at all.
