Valve Lash? Camshaft malfunction?

Sometimes I use a very long Philips screwdriver that I
have here as a stethoscope (spelling?).

Stick the point here and there on the motor, and put
your ear on the handle. I will help in locating the
source of the noise.

Just watch out for the fan belt...
