Mount it exactly where the old one went. If it read all 4 mount it at =
the collector. If it read just one make it read off of one of the main =
tubes. Also, if your car didn't come with a heated 02 sensor then don't =
put one on. They are more expensive an you will have to figure out how =
to wire it. Beyond that your cars computer won't look for it anyway =
until the coolant temp sensor tells the computer the motors warm enough =
to do so, which really defeats the whole purpose of having a heated =
sensor.

I tried mounting a 4 into 1 on my 84 and had the sensor at the =
collector. Ran like crap and I couldn't get it adjusted right. =
Switched to a tri-y with the sensor in the original location, easily =
adjusted the mixture and it runs fine. Think of it this way. Your =
sensor reads the amount of oxygen in the exhaust stream. If you mount =
it where you have 4 times the exhaust then it will read 4 times the =
oxygen and think the car is running lean. Keep it where it is.

  The question I have... why use a Heated O2 Sensor on a 8v ? what does, =
the heater O2 sensor provide, that the non-heated o2 sensor doesn't?

    I have a custom made header (4 into 1) that I need to mount my o2 =
sensor bolt onto. However, I'm not sure where to mount it. If I =
mounted it in the general location that my stock manifold has then it =
would only be reading one pipe. The only place to read all the pipes is =
down near where it bolts into the cat, but the only problem here is that =
I would have to cut the wire and extend it so it reaches there. This is =
for an 84 8 valve with a single wire o2 sensor. First, is it safe to =
cut the wire and extended it (I would think it would be) and second, is =
it safe to have it that close to the cat (I don't see why it wouldn't =
be). =20

    =20

Another interesting thing about this system is that it has a 5th =
very small pipe running between the 4 big ones with a screw-in hole at =
the end. I'm guessing this was put there to diagnose the system before =
races so that it wouldn't need an o2 sensor. However, the hole is =
smaller than the o2 sensor would need so I'm not sure what to do with =
this. I'm guessing that I'll have it cut and welded shut when I get the =
bolt welded on. In the picture you can't really see it but on the side =
profile you can barely see it sticking out about half way up the header =
sticking out the top. Whatever I do, I need to block it some how =
because exhaust is going to come straight up it once its on the car. =20

    =20

    =20

I can take and post some better pictures later, these were for the =
TT guy so I could order a Cat from him. =20
