Block Heaters

Damn Californians ;) Wouldn't know a block heater if they found one in
their peanut butter sandwich!

The "best" kind of block heater is installed right into the block. You
remove one of the freeze plugs and replace it with the block heater.

Other types include the magnetic ones, dipstick heaters (replace your
dipstick with a heater element), and the kind that go inline with your
heater or radiator hose. People argue about whether it's better to warm the
coolant or the oil, but most people prefer to warm the coolant.
