engine life span ->600K in Scirocco's from 85?-98

As I'm sure all of you know I got my rocco for free from my g/f at the time 
for my b-day.  I've heard all her Parents stories about this Scirocco 16V.

It had over 300 K on the clock when it blew on me just after a T-belt 
change.  It was just after that when I found out that her father had a 
Silver 8V b4 the Red 16V.  He put over 300K on it also.

Over 600K by one family in Scirocco's.  I was like Holy Shit.  But for some 
funny reason my (now) Ex-g/f can't stand the seats in my 16V!
