2.0l engine stand??

What I did because I was too cheap to buy one (and too lazy to drive to
Craig W's house to get his ;) was get two 4x4s and a couple 2x4s and a
couple 1x4s and some serious 3.5" drywall screws.

Take the 4x4s and nail/screw the 2x4s into them flush. This combo provides
just enough height to keep it off the ground. Align the combos on the ground
and the lower the block down (you didn't mention the x-axle, so I'm assuming
it won't be attached, but you did say "engine" so I'm assuming the head is
attached). Adjust the alignment of the combos along the lip of the oil pan,
then screw in the 1x4s to maintain the alingment. This configuration should
keep it nearly vertical and eliminate spillage (though I would definitely
suggest newspaper over a tarp (the newspaper to absorb and the tarp to
prevent penetration) should something get through.

To be on the safe side and prevent it from rocking side to side, you might
want to figure out a way to wedge to soft-tipped beams (various things could
be used) betweeb the head and the sides of the trunk area...
