(non-rocco) 85 GTI parts... Head swapping?



um...the 1.8 in your Jetta probably is a GX...which means that it is a
basically a GTI engine with 38 mm intake valves rather than 40 mm.   Simply
tossing on the dual outlet manifold/downpipe is gonna net probably 5ish hp,
with the restrictive intakes you will need a bigger cam to see much
improvement.
A 40 mm intake head...like the solid lifter JH or a hydro RD, coupled with
that block *would* be a GTI engine.
