Sounds to me like you are going really far, but with the right $tuff, you
can get there.  Don't try it without ceramic coating pistons and chambers.
Before the chambers (i.e. head) and pistons are sent to be coated,  file off
any sharp corners that might be around valve reliefs, and smooth out the
surface of the chamber as much as you practically can (doesn't have to be
mirror if you coat it).

The idea behind the filing and polishing is that any raised points or sharp
edges will become heat concentrations because they have more surface area to
take in the heat (sure, there is more to it, but that's the gist of it), and
these little points get really hot.  When they get too hot, they catch the
fuel mix on fire just from their heat, instead of having to wait for the
spark, and that is pre-detonation.
