CIS-E is the fuel "management" system, not the
ignition system :-)

I've converted two of my cars (non-California) from
points to the later 1981 & up 8V Scirocco style (non
knock-sensor) electronic ignition - my old 1980
Scirocco S  (RIP) and our current 1978 Scirocco.

It's relatively straight forward, but can be
intimidating to the non-electronically inclined.
