reverse lights not working

Back car up near a wall or other flat vertical surface, park and set
brake.

With the motor OFF but the Ign ON pull the two wires from the back up
switch on the transaxle, (follow speedo cable). 

Short the two wires together- White light out the back? Switch is bad.

No light? it's something else. Test for 12v in bulb socket and don't
forget most everything is fused.
