VR6 Question

I know this is the Rocco list but just pretend the Vr6 is in my Rocco.   I 
can't figure out what this is.  Every so often all the lights will dim on the 
Jetta a little bit and I will here this turbine sounding thing spool up, 
sound just like a jet engine.  Its not the fan because It usually happens 
like a minute after I start her up, and I checked it once when I heard it and 
the fans were not on.  Any Ideas.  Thanks
