ACK! Pistons reversed!

It is best to pull the piston/rod combo. That way the ring gaps stay 180
deg from each other on the piston. Otherwise you you simply spin the piston
it the bore you run a chance of the rings allowing to line up the gaps and
then you get severe blowby, that's if it would even run.

Well, got the head off and what do I find, the reliefs for the valves are
on the front of the pistons. I happen to glance at the reliefs on the
pistons in my beast block... in the back. ARGH!

So, here's my question. Can I simply pull the pan, the rod caps, and turn
the rods (and pistons) 180* so that they are facing the right way? Or do I
have to pull the pistons out and off the rods, turn the pistons 180*, then
remount everything back into the block?

This is a 1.8 16v block, bored to 83mm, and stroked to 92.8 (2L crank). The
block has been clearanced for the stroke.

Thanks guys.
