Transmission question

You should really, really look at a CenterForce Pressure Plate/Clutch (Dual
Friction). It has greater Clamping and gripping power that any of the
SACHS. I smoked two SACHS before I got the CenterForce and wow is it great.
I can really feel it take hold and the pedal pressure was less than the
SACHS. I got mine from NOPI, don't know if I got the best price but it
seemed good at the time.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I will call Potterman and see if I
can get the linkage bits from him. I am in Atlanta and would love to find a
good 16V tranny if anyone has or knows of one. Also is the factory clutch a
good bet for our cars unless you have crazy power? I was also going to toss
in a Velocity lightened flywheel while it was out, any other suggestions
while I am in there?

Welcome. I think there may be one or two people who can sympathize
with you on your situation.

Yes, any large mainshaft (aka "16V") tranny will physically fit. So
will *any* 020 tranny even from an 8V car, provided you change the
clutch disk. No problem. See the "gears" section under scirocco.org.

Also I know the 16V is a close ration

Yes, it could. or it could help, depending on the new tranny's ratios.

Anybody who sells lots of VW parts will tell you what you need. This
is commons stuff.

Where are you located?
