headgasket

I disagree here (surprise!!).  I have had MUCH more luck getting the =
nuts/studs off/out of the head than getting the nuts off of the studs =
where it hooks to the downpipe.  If you pull out a stud from the head, =
it is no biggie, but frequently the studs strip either on the nut side =
or in the manifold when removing the downpipe (since they do get =
hotter). =20

Plus, if you pull the manifold off, it will drop out of the way fairly =
easily then you pull the head.  You can do it any way you want but I =
have done MANY of these and have less problems removing the manifold =
(especially if you don't have a lift in your driveway!!!).  HTH!!
