Dan,
    Sounds like something is feeding back voltage to the output line of the
hall sender. In other words, something shorting to the wire in the harness,
other plugs, the coil itself, etc. This could be the cause of the light
never going off. Since the system relies on a off-on transition, your dim-on
condition may not be enough of a voltage change to cause spark. As for the
lambda (knock sensor box?) thing, its extremely remote that it can cause
absolutely no spark, all it will do in the extreme is retard the crap out of
it, but you would still have it.
This is just a hunch. First offhand guess at the problem.
