help! even more confused about trannys

While playing hookie this afternoon, I stumbled across a 4k at a local =
yard - already pulled! (obviously, I have no idea what condition the =
gears are in, but topical inspection seemed sound...) I just got done =
reading on the Vortex that it's possible to yank the final drive and 1-4 =
gears from the 4k case and stuff 'em into a later tranny (I just bought =
a DFQ (0.80 5th) w/ ~50k miles on it recently). If the yard is willing =
to throw the 4k my way for under $100 should I do it? Is it really =
possible? How much work would it be? I definitely want the DFQ case =
which allows me to use the 2.0 16v clutch/PP setup. But the 4k with a =
0.80 5th would be quite fun (though I'm told the 9a block should provide =
enough torque to use the DFQ as-is effectively)...Any input?
