easy way of clipping up exhaust clips on toilet bowl?

last time I change the exhaust donut, I ended up slipping the bottom of the
slip on, and using a cut to measure peice of wood, I used a jack to push on
the bottom end until the top part was in place (read) slipped in place using
a hammer).. works well when you get the hang of it.

basically its pita, just don;t loose you cool doing it.

any of you guys know of a easy way to install back those stupid exhaust
clips on the toilet bowl? the last time i did it, it was a pain and took
