Crazy Thing Happened Today



Eric-
  Operating the heater adds just a bit more cooling capacity to a normal
system.  If the water pump is not functioning, hot water will not reach the
heater core and cannot benefit.
Normally, you are correct in using the heater to help cool the engine.
With no water pump, the only thing to do is just what you did: stop.
