E30 M3 not a commuter (was: communter car search] - BMW 3-series

I just sold my E30 M3 after 4 years of fun - the motor is probably the
torquiest (is that a word ? ;) N/A four cylinder I've ever driven
(especially with the JC Chip). But given the fact that it is so torque-y,
it's not suited for commuting. The responsiveness of the throttle makes it
lurch in the lower speeds.

The car was actually VERY reliable - but when something did need repair, the
price of parts was through the damn roof (2-3x more than regular bimmer
parts (try a $750 windshiled!)). I was too afraid to work on it (lame, I
know) so I had to pay a BMW mechanic $98/hr to work on it (that is, after it
sat in his lot for over a week - I hated that f*cking guy, pompous
sunuvabeeyatch). ANYWAY, the car, while a blast to drive at any speed, is
more suited for the Autobahn - it feels way more solid at a 100+ mph than it
does at 60.

Jason's right - stick with the late model 6's. Maybe even go with an early
90's 535i - very comfortable, reliable and still stylish and can be had for
under $10k...

My $0.02 - JT
