this might be the last straw



when we got the motor tore down and my buddy pulled out the crank, you could 
see it had snapped. both him and my dad say the culprit is a faulty crank. 
they showed me the edges of the brake and the metal looked pourous, almost 
like it had a sponge texture to it. they both said no forged piece should 
look like this when cross-sectioned. my dad says the small "bubbles" in the 
metal were actually air pockets that weakenend the metal and caused "a 
structural failure", hence the break. i've gotta trust my dad on this one, 
he knows his (american) cars.
