Eric is right about the name's origin.

Actually, I think Rabbit was a good name for the U.S.
:-)

But between 1974 and 1985 VWOA did little else right .
. .

(pickup, Rabbit GTI, what else?)

Funny thing about the Fox, VAG used this name in the
1970's on an Audi, and it reappeared in the mid/late
'80's as a VW  ;-)
