why do people think Nitrous burns?



Allyn is correct.  Combustion (burning) is the rapid oxidation
(i.e.combining with oxygen) of a substance.  The more oxygen available, the
faster, more intense the combustion.  If it's fast enough, it's called an
"explosion". :)
