why do people think Nitrous burns?

    What you say is true, but everyone should keep in mind that oxygen will make a burning flame
much more volatile. In the presence of enough oxygen, even oil baking on a hot exhaust manifold
might ignite into some serious flamage.
    If you already got fire, more oxygen = big time bad juju.
    We do the exact opposite on subs: My sub ran at ~17-18% oxygen when underway to act as a flame
retardant. Poor saps couldnt even get a zippo to stay lit for more than a few seconds.
