Radiator fan install & wiring help...

The fan plug has three wires composed of a 1 ground (*brown*) 1 High speed
and 1 Low Speed wires. Check Page 4-10,4-11 of Bentley, I do not recall
which is what for high and low, but an easy test with a multimeter will tell
you right away. which is which.

what most people do is set up a relay to kick in the high speed on to both
fans when it is required and have the relay come back to low speed when
required, or they use one fan on low speed and connect the second fan on
high speed.

what I did ? both fans on low speed, none on high. but I am going to change
this when My 2L goes in I will be using the relay system, I was too lazy
last time I installed it. I live in Texas, and I have yet to see my temp
raise above the led in 100+ temps with AC running. and oil temps sits at
100'c but I can tell you that the first week of driving with the new fan I
kept a real close eye on the temps :)

As for the way your fan should sit, if there is an issue you want it to the
foremost right (passenger side), so that the sensor in the radiator has a
"average temp" and not cut off/turn on too many time the fans because they
cooled the liquid closest to the sensor.

just to let you know, the fan works wonders, and make sure you wire it the
right way (pull or push depending which side your installing it on the rad).

=>I recently got a Flex-a-Lite to adapt to my 16V and have a few
=>questions... The plug for the stock fan has 3 wires - red
=>w/black, red w/white, and brown. The Flex-a-Lite only has 2 (per
=>fan) wires, power and ground. So which wire do I use to power
=>the Flex-a-Lite, red w/black or red w/white? What is the other wire for?
=>Also, the Flex-a-Lite is a bit small for the radiator but will
=>fit with a little rigging... do you think it will be ok if I
=>offset the fan all the way to one side and then have about 6
=>inches of radiator overhang on the other side? Or should I rig
=>it into the middle (more difficult) so that there's 3 inches of
=>overhand on each side like the stock fan shroud?
