hp gain from TT dp vs. Stock dual dp

Since your planning to use it with a cat I would avoid buying the TT DP as
the build quality sucks! I bought one, wasn't happy with the workmanship at
the collector, I contacted TT and spoke w/ Darrell whom I sent pic's of the
product, he checked the remaining inventory and said that they were all like
that and agreed to take it back or have it fixed, all in all I was out $9.00
shipping and wasted my time on it, the pic's are located here:
http://home.earthlink.net/~76rocco/TT%20Downpipe/TT%20Downpipe.JPG and
another here:
http://home.earthlink.net/~76rocco/TT%20Downpipe/TT%20Downpipe2.JPG I'll let
you decide whether or not it's a performance upgrade, in my opinion it would
require the collector to be cut off and reworked in order to achieve the
optimum flow out the outlet! if you look close at the pic's you'll notice a
couple of things, one is after they used a cutoff saw they didn't even
cleanup the edge around the pipe (no biggie though just file it down!)
second problem was where the two pipes were joined! (big problem was when
they joined the pipes together they took too much material off each pipe
resulting in a smaller than ideal inside diameter as seen by the extra
material (weld) around the interior wall in the collector (should be 2" but
as you can see it is closer to the 1 7/8" that the factory dual DP is!) this
could have been repaired by cutting the pipe further back where the two join
and replace the short section of pipe leading to the flange, I asked to take
the pipe to a local reputable exhaust shop and have that work done with TT
picking up the tab since the pipe should have been constructed like that in
the first place, Darrell said he was willing to spend up to $20.00 to have
pipe fixed and after taking pipe to exhaust shop there was no fixing it for
that amount so I returned it to TT, I only hope the attention to detail is
better for their "Race Pipe" but then your left without a cat. Autotech Dual
DP for use with cat was better at the collector but required a little finish
work at manifold flange area, also the Autotech pipe comes setup for the
10mm studs for use with a euro manifold vs. 8mm for US so your left with
either installing 10mm studs, using step studs (if you can find them?) or
possibly using exhaust nuts that have "shoulder" on them if your using a US
spec manifold. HTH
