starting problems

i have the alt. wire on the jetta jumpered. it was dropping 1.5 volts at =
full alternator output.

  I got the jetta to start by push starting and it drove yesterday and =
today fine, but the crank-a- few-times-then-start problem is back.  So i =
took the jetta to autozone and they tested the alternator and battery.  =
The battery is good but a bit low on voltage and the alternator is =
apparently putting out enough volts but the battery isn't getting enough =
amps.  Could this be causing hard starting/no starting at all? and what =
could be causing this? thanks again.
