chassis re-enforcement v.101

well here is a suggestion. It just hit me like a ton of bricks...
Look at ETKA and at the Convertable reinforcements. you might be able to
get some OEM replacements, weld em in and help out a bit.
For example, the floor-pan and front and rear struct towers are covered
by an extra bit of metal. The engineers are required to do the FEM or
physical testing to keep the crumple zones intact. Im sure the is a bunny
out there that is in bad shape that you could disassemble/cut up.
As far as the wrecks that ive seen in the yard. most roccos take it in the
nose or in the butt. so i you preserve the crumple zone in the front ie
the part that looks like it could accordian easy stock. you could prolly
preserve the force absorbing area in the front. so after saying all that.

Im guessing that if you welded in cage inside the fenderwells (pita to do
anything.. make sure the motor/tranny can be removed without grinding and
rewelding. just leave the front of the cage open so if someone were to say
hit a pole driving the car (vw gods, God, Allah, etc.. forbid..) the front
end can still wrap around it. or if its hits off center the corner can
still absorb significant energy before impacting the ridged frame. Talk to
our wonderful ME's / structual engineers what to do to make the engine be
directed under the car not into the cabin.
