a ? for the Mk1 scirocco history buffs

Look in the history.
I found it the ass-backwards way by searching for "scirocco+sidewinder" on yahoo...

He has told me this story about a million times and I always wondered how
true it was. The weird thing is that this happened in Olympia, WA! I think
the car was brand new because his company was buying him a new car so I
couldn't see why he would be looking at a used scirocco.

The sad part about this is that since I showed some interest in VWs, I got
all of his VW stuff including three complete cars. The Dasher was totalled
so maybe this means that the scirocco would have been totalled too before I
got it?

Anyone have more information on this car?
