Steering Rack Problems

Well, I just found out why my steering went bad all of a sudden.  On the
closest steering rack mount to driver side, both bolts have actually
broken off. I've called a few local shops and they say I will have to go
to a body shop in order to get the work done. Anyone know if there is an
easier way of fixing this problem so the car is at least moderately safe
to drive? I'm strapped for cash as it is right now..
