I don't have the formula, but the converse approach might do the
trick......simply rebush 3A rods to accept the ABA wrist pins and use
notched ABA pistons. That "should" yeild 8:1 compression so you would
need a thinner HG. Also, the piston skirt might have to be clearanced.

not sure

The simply approach for lowering compression is to get a hold of
www.headgaskets.com and let them tell you what thickness copper gasket
you need, then build it and ship it to you.

I wonder if such a recipe is possible for the 3a conversion, lowering
the compression from 10:1 to 8/9:1 to permit better turbo capabilities
or G60 ladder on it.
anyone have a though on this ?

Not that you asked for this but I'm posting again for those who will
want to know.

ABF Recipe;

Take one ABA block, remove the crankshaft timing pulley, oil pump,
intermediate shaft, oil pump drive gear and distributor hole plug.
Replace removed items with units from a 2.0 16v donor.

Remove ABA pistons, have eyebrows notched into pistons for valve
clearance. (not mandatory but a damn good idea)

Reassemble ABA 16v motor for unspectacular 8:1 compression.

Or, pay big about $400 for ABF pistons or $$$$$$ for custom pistons.

Alternately, rebush ABA rods for 2.0 16v wrist pins and use 2.0 16v
pistons, resulting in 9.2:1 compression.

Do you still have the 2.0 ABA? I talked to Colin(TT) today about
possibly converting to an ABF! They have almost all the parts necessary
to do the conversion. He said the stock cis-e with fuel enrichment
and euro cam is good for 170 HP streetable! The plus is the ABF is
smoother also.

===>  Attention List <=====

Anyone have a pre 1995 2.0 crossflow short block to possibly trade for a
1.8 16V shortblock?
