Wheels ....

It also depends where you live. I can't even keep 15's straight in central
Ohio. I've used 195/50 and 205/50 and trashed the wheels on both. I'm
careful to avoid pot holes, but you can't miss everything, especially those
damn transitions on freeway construction zones. People get pissed when you
slow down to 20 mph to go over those on the freeway.

I gave up and now I run a set of 185/60 14's for the street.

Yeah, pretty much what Scott said. I had some 16x7.5 OZ Monte Carlos with
205/40-16 Yokohamas. Looked SWEET, and didn't rub (10mm spacers in back
helped), but man was that a heavy package. When I first put them on I
thought I'd dropped 10hp.

The other problem with 16's is that the tires are so low-profile that you
risk bending the wheels every time you drive. After bending ALL FOUR wheels
at once on I-75 in Georgia, I'm now rolling on...guess what...Scott's
recommended 15" wheels. :) I miss my 16's, but I don't miss the stress of
trying to avoid every bump in the road.

Adrian are you looking for maximum performance or just good looks? If you're
going for looks then install whatever you want with a function be damned
attitude. If you want the best balance between grip, handling, and looks,
then I advise you to use a 15x6.5" rim and 195/50/15 tires. For road racing
and backroad blasting a 14x7" rim might be best with some 205/45/14 or
whatever. And, for autox you'll definitely want some 13x7 or 8" with
what? -some 225/40/13 or something like that? I forget the13" race sizes...

I think you'll have a real challenge getting those 14" tires to properly fit
over a 16" rim. You must have some serious upper body strength. :^)
