Head Unit's internal Amp is shutting down, thermal protection if your
lucky, burnt if your not.

What are the speakers? What are their wattage ratings, and ohmage?


Have you considered a supplemental ground for the radio/amp, using a
cooling fan (computer muffin fans run off of 12v), a separate amp to
drive the speakers?
