alternator swap - resolution?

so, i did the swap. jumed in the jetta. fired it up. 13.3 volts (same alternator
that was just putting out 14.1 volts). hrm, this is odd. turn all accessories on
at once, promptly drops down to 12.3 volts. hrm. then the whole crappy vw wiring
thing pops into my head. take some voltages at full load: +batt to +alt: .6
volts. -batt to -alt: .8 volts. wouldnt ya know, my wires are crap. i wonder
what voltages are dropped by decent wires. anyone???
Al
