MK1 wiring question

on my 81 it looks like Mr.Bentley says there should be 3 wires to the
starter 1 from battery, 1 from coil, 1 from ignition switch, but Mrs.
Chilton says there is one only two, 1 from battery and 1 from ignition. I'm
not finding a extra wire hanging loose as per Mr. Bentley.
so is one missing or not??
