German engineering poll



There are a few items that I've found on our cars that don't seem to measure
up to the rigid standards of German engineering. The key way between the
crank and the cam gear is one and our external door handles is another.

What is the opinion of the list? Are there more issues where it seems to
have been designed on a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon?

Has anyone ever had a crank and gear machined for a regular insert key? I've
been thinking that this seems to be a logical solution but not being a
machinist I can't say how difficult it would be to do. Opinions?
